Oy Western Shipyard Ltd  (BIC:0958671-4) is founded 1994.

Our main branch of business is repairing of ships and floating structures. Approximately 40 people are working at the shipyard at the moment.

WSY is an affiliated company of APX-Metalli Oy and entirely Finnish-owned. The parental company´s expertise in steel and aluminum products, welded structures, installation and repair works, and turn-keys provides significant synergy benefits for our projects.

All our activities meet the ISO9001:2001 and AQAP 2120 quality standards.

Occupational Safety and Environment

A careful planning of working processes takes account of occupational safety matters and thus prevents possible health risks. A well organized work means also better efficiency in production and higher quality of work. We believe that safe and healthy working environment is also a thriving one. Regular occupational safety checks and monitoring of possible accidents and close calls at the working site serve as a basis of development in safety practices.

The engineering works and other workshop activities in WSY have a relatively small environmental load and our aim is to constantly reduce the environmental impact. WSY received the Environmental Permit 2009 from The Environmental Administration of Finland.

Continual Improvement

With a continual improvement of our processes, we enhance the effectiveness of our organization and gain benefits to all of our interest groups. WSY has also established investment program to support improvement endeavors. The analyzing process of feedback given from the field and from our liaisons, gives an important tool for continual improvement, providing potential focus points. Our personnel’s professional skills are continually maintained and further training is provided and supported.
